50 Shades of Grey

Believe it or not, grey hair is the colour of 2015. Celebrities like SNSD’s Hyoyeon, Rihanna and Lady Gaga (no surprises there) have chosen to defy ageing — and step out in this daring hue.

Fans snap pictures of Hyoyeon (Girls’ Generation) flaunting her grey locks as part of her airport fashion.

It seems that her fellow band-member can’t quite wrap her head around Hyoyeon’s new look either.

This eccentric pop star proves once again that she can pull off any look.

While Hyoyeon opted for a grey with blue undertones, Lady Gaga chose a grey that leans more towards silver or platinum. For another way of offsetting the possible grandmotherliness in this look, consider Rihanna’s darker take on grey hair.

Rihanna does her hair the way she does her music: dark and sexy at the same time. This style is a spin-off of the classic “salt-and-pepper” look, without the “salt”.

Verdict: Proceed with caution. Unless you can describe the precise shade of grey you want to your hairdresser, you may end up getting any of the 49 wrong ones. Also, this may just go down as the most ironic hair trend of all time.

  1. Get to the Root

Let’s face it, ombre hair and dip-dyed ends are passe. If you’re itching to make a bolder statement with your locks but have no idea how, tackle the root of the problem by trying out this fresh look.

Dye your roots a bright hue and leave the rest of your hair a natural shade. Sounds crazy, but Maxime Simoens proves how insanely wearable this look is in his Spring/Summer 2015 Ready-To-Wear runway show.
