Review: FatCat Cafe
Our east Medhatter writer, Sequina, brings you through her very first cafe-hopping in the East series! For this first episode, she visited FatCat Ice Cream Bar that is situated along the first storey of a HDB building in Bedok.
A few days ago, I head down to Fatcat ice cream bar to see what the crazy craze was about! Okay, so I went down at about 4 on a Saturday. It was super crowded. We waited for about 45 minutes before we actually got a seat. I would say that their service is slightly slow. Because while queuing from the outside, you can actually see that there are empty seats on the inside, but the workers aren’t ushering people in. After the 45 minutes wait, we ordered their gourmet waffle (charcoal waffle, $6) with salted egg sauce ($1), earl grey lavender ice cream ($4.50), Thai green tea ice cream($4.50) and ice chocolate($6).
We waited for another 15 minutes before getting out food. I did not expect salted egg sauce to go well with the waffles and ice cream but it was actually pretty decent. The waffles alone did not have much taste to it.
Overall, I feel that is okay. Personally I feel that you must give the Thai green tea ice cream a try. It’s really good. The service is rather slow but the food is okay. It’s not bad. Would I bring my friends there? Probably not. But then again this is just my own personal interpretation. I would give it a 6/10.
