BY RACHEL THE: If you should think flowers may very well be the most overrated gift one can get, do not undermine the power of the perennial. Studies have uncovered that these blooms hold remedial properties in stabilising the overall emotional and psychological well-being of a person. Being in the presence of flowers do increase positive social behaviour and life satisfaction. More impressively, flowers have also been known to be a viable treatment for curing depression as well as alleviating anxiousness and agitation.

All that from a bunch of buds? It’s undeniably so.

But before you begin searching for your nearest florist, enhance your bouquet de fleurs with extra meaning. Does your beloved have the patience of a saint? Add some lovely red Asters. Or perhaps some Anthurium to highlight her caring disposition, or tell her she’s beautiful with a stalk of peonies.

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; thery are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul. – Luther Burbank

After women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world. – Christian Dior
