By NATURE SHANKAR – I’m sure we all remember the image below from ‘The Breakfast Club’.

Dandruff is just a plain icky problem. You never want to have it, because it makes wearing black tops impossible – unless you don’t mind looking like you’ve been snowed on – and the flakes are not melting.

You’ve changed your shampoo, cut your hair, spent 2 hours shampooing everyday but yet nothing has worked…

Chemical anti-dandruff shampoos might dry your scalp or simply bite your skin, hence leading to even more dandruff and might even add on to your scalp problems! Yikes!

All hope is not lost; here is the perfect natural way to rid your scalp of dandruff once and for all!

(Not recommended to be done before you go out as the smell is very strong)

It is best done at night, a couple of hours before bedtime.

Mix 1 part white vinegar, available at any grocer or supermarket, with 1 part water (customise the amount to the length and thickness of your hair!). Thoroughly rinse your scalp and hair with this mixture. Do not wash it off for 15 minutes, or till it has dried. Then, rinse it off with water and let your hair dry! You can even do this before shampooing! Repeat this every day for one week.

It is best done at night, a couple of hours before bed.

A good tip: Massage your scalp with tea tree, lavender or peppermint essential oil. Tea tree oil is commonly used in anti-dandruff shampoos, due to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. The antiseptic properties of peppermint oil are perfect for a dry, itchy scalp and lavender oil is best for a flaky scalp.

You can also add a few drops of tea-tree essential oil into your shampoo. Be sure to wash your hair thoroughly, every day!
