DINE-OUT: Bowled over by yoghurt

When you order a yoghurt cup, do you try and keep to 2 toppings while mentally calculating the cost? DIANA OTHMAN confesses to doing it all the time, even though,”I will only find out how much my yoghurt snack adds up to when I pay for it.” That’s why she likes new yoghurt eatery, Whole&Hearty.
At Whole&Hearty, people like me have it easy. All we do is pick a bowl size, and fill it up with as much yoghurt and topping as it will hold. This buffet concept leaves customers free to focus on their yoghurt/topping preferences.
Inspired by clean eating and naturally cultured foods, Whole&Hearty make their yoghurt in-store! And they offer a variety eg Yoghurts made from a variety of heirloom cultures and base milks; Vegan Soy yoghurt; creamy Bulgarian yoghurt or the thinner; Scandinavian-style Viili yoghurt made with low-fat milk; as well as natural-ferment, probiotic drinks Milk Kefir Water and Kefir Concentrate. The kefir is recommended with a dash of fruit juice or aromatic cold-brew coffee.
Christine Yee, 31, founded Whole&Hearty to share her belief in a sustainable lifestyle focused on health and well-being. The mother of two preschoolers wanted to add organic probiotics to her kids’ diet. In keeping with the wholesome theme, the store has a pretty kitchen counter top and colorful utensils, making customers feel like they’ve walked into Christine’s home.
Of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try their yoghurt. I had their signature yoghurt with toppings of pistachio, almond flakes and chopped crackers. Although sour, the kick from the nut butters and the crunchy topping made the whole yoghurt package pretty awesome.
Dominic, my colleague, tried their famous cold organic oats in almond milk and he can totally understand why it’s everyone’s favourite! It’s a refreshing amazing breakfast that preps you for the day ahead!
Whole&Hearty is at Icon Village (Tanjong Pagar), 12 Gopeng Street, #01-84, Singapore 078877
