Create optical illusions

GERALDINE TAN: Myopic girls like me want to look beautiful behind our glasses, but how? Ettusais and Tokyo Star Optical came to the rescue with a beauty workshop in early February.
The MedHatter beauty team was invited to the Girls Who Wear Glasses makeup workshop hosted by Publicist PR over the weekend. This collaboration between Ettusais and Tokyo Star Optical showed us how to flatter our eyes by cleverly combining trendy frames and makeup.
Michelle, the trainer from Ettusais stressed that makeup should be used to express our individuality. Alongside many beauty bloggers, we picked up many good tips from her including how to create a day look. She also showcased the Ettusais latest Spring/Summer colors, which will hit the stores this month.
We learnt that when wearing round frames, our eyebrows should reflect the circular shape, whereas with rectangular frames, eyebrow arches should be emphasized. When defining eyebrows, always start at the highest point of the brows.
Another great tip is to always use waterproof mascara to avoid smudging our glasses should our mascara start to melt. Smart!
By brushing darker shadow at the outer corner of the eyes, Michelle added drama to a natural day look, making it easy to go from work to a date night or function. She used a two-tone eye shadow with a light shimmer at the inner corner to add depth and definition.
Something most girls have never thought of is to highlight laugh lines around the eyes. While the usual highlight goes on the nose bridge and cheeks, Michelle showed how highlighting laugh lines can add dimension to the face.
After the enlightening makeup demo, Fazirah from Tokyo Star Optical showed us this season’s trendy frames! Lightweight and fashionable, the Tokyo Star Optical collection features something for everyone, from geeky chic frames to oversized aviators and even hipster round frames. After the event, sales associate Desiree introduced me to the Ultem range that are super light but hardy enough to withstand bending. Great for careless people like me!
